Respite Connections, Inc. provides services to adults and children with developmental disabilities in Central Ohio including Franklin, Delaware, and Licking counties.

We're seeking fun-loving, upbeat, positive, caring, and dedicated individuals for our Direct Support Provider position!


Here's the job:

  • Our caring and helpful staff provide support services directly in the community, typically in the individual's home. Staff assist the individuals we serve with many daily living activities following a person-centered approach. Direct Support Providers are responsible for many tasks including:

    • Creating an environment that encourages positive social interactions and life skills development
    • Mentoring individuals with disabilities, assisting with learning independent living
    • Encouraging self advocacy and
    • Planning activities and outings in the community
    • Providing transportation to and from work, school, and other activities
    • Planning and preparing daily meals
    • Assisting with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene
    • Administering prescribed medications
    • Following the provided service plans and approved supports and interventions
    • Completing service delivery, mileage and work time documentation

    A typical shift/day for a Direct Support Provider may include picking up an individual from school or work and having fun at a planned activity in the community, such as going for ice cream, shopping, playing in the park, or seeing a movie. Staff might also transport and accompany individuals to appointments or spend time at home planning and preparing a meal, meeting friends or family, or working on independent living skills. Direct Support Providers are highly encouraged to create plans that help the individual to advocate for their interests and goals, and to develop positive relationships and roles in the community.

What you need for the job:

All staff must have the following:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Vehicle liability insurance
  • Car in working condition
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug test
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) helpful!


No previous work experience is required. We'll provide all the training and education you need to be successful!
